The Power of a Woman

Last night it really hit home to me the power of women.

Two women in my life got hit with huge news yesterday - one got diagnosed with throat cancer at 33 years old and the other had her husband walk out on her.

And both of these women have faced both very different crises with such practicality and strength that I am completely in awe of them both.

I just love the reserve of strength that women find in themselves for their children.

I hope that it's imbedded in every women so when I need it can be easily found.

Oh what news. That must be so awful, and at a time of year where you have to put on this front of being so jolly and festive. It amazes me also the strength that women have. In the past eighteen months I have found a strength in me I didn't know existed, and the same with some other friends also. I think having children makes the will and strength a lot stronger as you are the one they depend on, so you pull on all reserves to shield, protect and carry on loving and giving for them.xxx

oh I'm so sorry for both of your friends. both are clearly going to need your love and support for a long time to come, and it seems that you are the right person to do that for them. My partner of 15 years and father of my (then) 16 month old son walked out on me six months ago. Sudden, and completely utterly unexpected. We're all different of course, but from my experience I was stronger and more resilient in the first weeks and months than I was (am) down the track. It's after the initial shock wears out, and we move on from the practical issues that need to be dealt with to the realisation that the house is empty / the illness is still there that we need the extra love and support. I'm so very sorry to hear this, and wish for both of your friends great hope and courage. x
