Birthday Party Decorations..on a budget!

My 30th is fast approaching. We are having a party at our house where everyone is bringing their own picnic basket with food and drinks. So for once I am having a party where I don't have to cook anything.

So I can concentrate on the far more important subject of decorations and theming.

I found this tutorial on my blog searches and loved the idea.

While babysitting a 4 and a 5 year old I decided to have a craft session. This is our version of the butterfly straws.

I shrunk the template down a fair way and just used red coloured paper I had lying around. And then painted the markings on the wings using a skewer.

It was heaps of fun doing it and something different I think...

The Light at the End of a Long Tunnel...

I can see it! After 3 weeks of working full-time with a teething 6 month old who doesn't sleep, tomorrow will be my last day at work for a whole week. Then I am back to my old routine of one day a week.
Sorry for the absence - you have no idea how much I have missed being on here.
Especially sorry to Sarah who was so generous to give me a blog award and I didn't even acknowlege it. Feeling very guilty about that one I truly am.
Very very soon - the light is getting brighter....
